New Guidelines for Heading from US Soccer

This is important information for all parents, coaches, and players.  US Soccer has developed new guidelines to help minimize concussions for youth soccer players.  A key aspect of these guidelines affects the play in CCSL.

  • Heading for children ages 10 and under should be eliminated from all practices and games.
  • Heading for children ages 11-13 should be severely limited in practice, but is allowed in games.

The safety of the athletes in CCSL is our highest priority.  Therefore, coaches will be instructed in heading safety and the steps in evaluating and managing concussions.  More information about these guidelines and concussion safety can be found here.

Coach Needed for U8 (1st and 2nd Graders)

We are still in need of a coach for a U8 team for the spring season.  No coaching experience is needed, just a willingness to have fun!  We are trying to finalize the teams in order to get practices going, but we can not do this until we have all coaches in place.

Please call or text Ken Ennis (828-361-0387) if you are interested in coaching or co-coaching.  Thank you!
